Dulal Sorkae, Narsingdi Correspondent || A month-long industrial and trade fair has opened in Belabo upazila of Narsingdi, drawing a large crowd on its opening day.The fair was formally inaugurated on Friday afternoon in a festive atmosphere at Narayanpur Union, beside the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway.Ahsan Habib Biplob, political adviser to the Minister for Health and Family Welfare and convener of Belabo Upazila BNP, inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Md Rashidul Islam Lal Mia, president of Narayanpur Union BNP, and conducted by Md Masud Molla, a leader of Belabo Upazila Jubo Dal.Among those present were Belabo Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Amanullah, Md Zahirul Haque Tanvir, convener of Sollabad Union BNP and former union parishad chairman, Md Ruhul Amin Shyamol, general secretary of Narayanpur Union BNP, and leaders of BNP and its affiliated organisations.In his inaugural speech, Ahsan Habib Biplob said such fairs play an important role in promoting local industries and boosting economic activity.He said the fair would provide small and medium-sized entrepreneurs with opportunities to market their products while also offering entertainment for local residents.According to the organisers, the fair features a wide range of locally made products and handicrafts, along with household goods, clothing and cosmetics.Various rides and entertainment facilities have also been arranged for visitors, including a circus, Ferris wheel and carousel for children.The fair will remain open to the public from morning until 9pm. A large number of visitors were seen at the venue on the opening day.The organisers said Belabo police are working to ensure security and maintain a hygienic environment throughout the month-long fair.
