Ashikur Rahman Ashik, Staff Reporter || Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has challenged opposition parties to come up with an effective plan to resolve the country’s gas and electricity crisis within six months, saying the government would consider adopting any workable proposal.He made the remarks on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at a programme held at the T&T Colony field in Banani, Dhaka, where financial assistance was distributed among poor and disadvantaged people to mark the 82nd birth anniversary of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.Addressing the opposition, Tarique Rahman said, “If you have any plan that can resolve the gas and electricity problems within the next six months, give it to us. We will certainly adopt it if it works. I am throwing this challenge to you.”He said the government was working to address the country’s electricity and gas shortages. If the opposition has any effective plan, the government would positively consider implementing it, he added.Criticising the Awami League government, the prime minister said the “previous fascist government” had left the country’s healthcare system weakened. As a result, he said, people had been forced to travel to a particular country to receive medical treatment.Addressing Jamaat, Tarique Rahman said the next session of parliament would begin on August 27. He urged the opposition to present any effective proposals in parliament.If you have any good plan, present it. We will implement it, he said.
