Palash Tushar Pathan, Staff Reporter || Former minister and Awami League lawmaker Dr Dipu Moni will be released on parole for 12 hours following the death of her husband, Barrister Tawfiq Newaz.Munshiganj Additional District Magistrate Md Rezaul Karim confirmed the matter on Wednesday afternoon.He said Dipu Moni was granted parole from 6am to 6pm on Thursday following an application submitted by her daughter.“The district magistrate has the authority to grant parole for a maximum of 12 hours during daylight. Any extension beyond that requires government approval,” Rezaul Karim said.He added that the decision was taken after discussions on the relevant legal issues following the application from Dipu Moni’s daughter.Barrister Tawfiq Newaz, husband of former minister Dipu Moni, died at a private hospital on Tuesday night while undergoing treatment.
