Two Chhatra League Leaders Arrested in Belabo Anti-Terrorism Case

Police have arrested
two leaders of the banned Chhatra League in Narsingdi’s Belabo in a case filed
under the Anti-Terrorism Act.The two were arrested
from Binnabaid area of the upazila on Friday (August 21).The arrestees are Md
Saiful Islam, 36, vice-president of Belabo upazila Chhatra League, and Md
Rafiqul Islam Tutul, former joint convener of Patuli Union Chhatra League.Police said Saiful is
the son of late Abdul Majid Mia of Binnabaid, while Rafiqul is the son of late
Qutub Uddin Bhuiyan of the same area.According to police,
the two are accused in Belabo Police Station Case No. 16, filed on February 10,
2025, under Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 of the Anti-Terrorism Act,
2009, as amended in 2013.Acting on a tip-off,
a police team conducted a raid at Saiful’s residence in Binnabaid and arrested
both men.Police said the
arrestees were later sent to court following the completion of necessary legal
procedures.
