Neglected Machpara Railway Station leaves pangsha passengers struggling
Foridul Alam Forid, Reporter ||
Machpara Railway Station in pangsha upazila of Rajbari
has remained neglected for years, causing daily hardship for passengers due to
its low platform, inadequate facilities, poorly maintained station building and
the absence of stops for intercity trains. The station serves people
from Machpara Union and surrounding areas, for whom rail travel remains an
important and affordable means of transportation.Although the Nakshikatha
commuter train stops at the station, it does not have designated seats, forcing
many passengers to travel standing. Women, children, elderly people and sick
passengers face greater difficulties as a result.Local journalist Faridul Alam
Farid said the gap between the train doors and the platform height makes
boarding and getting off risky. Passengers also often face confusion due to
inadequate announcements and the lack of a modern passenger information system.Local residents have demanded
immediate renovation and modernisation of the station, construction of a safe
and elevated platform, seat allocation on the Nakshikatha commuter train, and
stops for several important intercity trains.
They said improving the station's facilities would
ease the daily suffering of passengers and make rail communication more
convenient for people in the area.
