At least 579 tourists missing as landslides, floods kill 100 in Nepal

At
least 579 people, including hundreds of foreign tourists, have been reported
missing in Nepal following landslides and flash floods, according to the latest
figures from Nepal Police.Of
the missing tourists, 466 are foreign nationals from 28 countries, while 113
are Nepali citizens. The missing include 54 US nationals and 33 British
citizens.According
to the latest update from the Nepal Tourism Board, 133 Indian nationals are
also among those reported missing.Citing
tour operators, the tourism board said most of the missing travellers were
heading towards Mansarovar, a destination near the Nepal-India border.Meanwhile,
Nepal Police said at least 100 people had died in flash floods across the
country as of 8:30pm local time.The
reported deaths include one in Rasuwa, 11 in Nuwakot, 18 in Dhading, 33 in
Chitwan, 19 in Gorkha, seven in Tanahun and 11 in Nawalpur.Rescue
and recovery operations are currently underway, police said.
