Sports Desk ||
Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly
broke down in tears in the Al Nassr dressing room after his side staged a
dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Al Ettifaq.Saudi media personality
Khalid Al-Shanif claimed on his programme Dorina Gair that the
Portuguese star could not hold back his emotions after the memorable win.The 41-year-old Ronaldo
started for Al Nassr for the first time this season on Tuesday. Al Nassr found
themselves 2-0 down and were reduced to 10 men during the match.Ronaldo was substituted at
half-time, with Abdullah Al-Khaibari coming on in his place. According to
Al-Shanif, Ronaldo himself had asked to come off because he was not fully fit.
But after Al Nassr completed their comeback, the forward was reportedly
overcome with emotion and began crying in the dressing room.Al Nassr manager Ange
Postecoglou, however, offered a different explanation for the substitution.He said Ronaldo had been
scheduled to play 45 minutes as part of a gradual return to full fitness.
Ronaldo had played 30 minutes in the previous match, and the plan was to
increase his playing time to 45 minutes this time.Postecoglou said Ronaldo
wanted to stay on after Al Nassr fell two goals behind, but the decision to
take him off at half-time was ultimately the right one.
