RAKIBUL ISLAM , Staff Reporter || The “July Uprising Memorial Museum”, established to preserve the memories of the July uprising, will be inaugurated on Wednesday, Culture Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury said.He made the announcement at a briefing held at the conference room of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs at 11am on Tuesday.The culture minister said the inauguration ceremony will begin at 9am on Wednesday. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will attend the event as the chief guest and unveil the plaque of the museum.After the inauguration, the prime minister will visit different galleries and exhibitions of the museum and view preserved artefacts, photographs, documents and memorabilia related to the July uprising.The minister said entry to the museum on the inauguration day will be reserved for invited guests and families of those who were killed during the July uprising. The museum will be opened to the general public from Thursday, August 6.He said the museum has been established to preserve the history of the democratic movement, highlight the sacrifices of martyrs and July fighters, and present the events of the uprising to future generations.During the inauguration ceremony, July fighters and family members of martyrs will share their memories. A documentary highlighting the events of the July uprising, public participation and the history of the movement will also be screened.The cultural segment of the programme will feature patriotic songs, recitations and other performances reflecting the spirit of the July uprising, he added.Visitors will be able to buy tickets online to enter the museum. Ticket prices have been fixed at Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children.
