Sports Correspondent || Bangladesh faced a major batting collapse against Cricket Australia XI in the opening day of their three-day warm-up match in Darwin, with off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli causing the damage. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s brilliant unbeaten century helped the visitors post a respectable first-innings total of 263 runs.After losing seven wickets and struggling at 175 runs by the tea break, Bangladesh found hope through Mehidy’s counter-attacking innings. The all-rounder remained unbeaten on 109 off 141 balls, smashing 11 sixes and four boundaries to guide Bangladesh out of trouble.Earlier, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and chose to bat first at Marrara Oval. But the decision quickly turned difficult as opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim was dismissed for a duck with the team score on just 7.Sadman Islam and Mominul Haque attempted to rebuild the innings, but the scoring rate remained slow. Shanto top-scored among the early batters with 37 runs from 53 balls, including seven fours, while Sadman contributed 31 off 47 balls.Mominul Haque (16) and Test hopeful Amit Hasan (15) failed to convert their starts, while experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed for a duck.
