Md. Polash Tushar Pathan, Staff Reporter ||
The International
Crimes Tribunal’s Chief Prosecutor, Md Aminul Islam, has alleged that a
significant amount of evidence and information from the Joint Interrogation
Centre (JIC) was destroyed after August 5.He made the remarks
on Saturday around 11:15am after inspecting the JIC facility at the
headquarters of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).The chief prosecutor
also said BNP leader and current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had been
detained and tortured at a DGFI “Aynaghar” during the One-Eleven period.Aminul Islam alleged
that the previous government, led by Sheikh Hasina, had established an inhumane
system of detention and torture. He said the “Aynaghar” facilities were created
with ulterior motives and that many people holding dissenting views were
detained there for months or even years. The inspection was
conducted as part of the investigation into alleged enforced disappearances and
torture during the Awami League government. The International Crimes Tribunal-1
visited the JIC facility in connection with a case involving allegations of
crimes against humanity.
