In a lengthy Facebook post,
Shabnur said Rizvi had become an approver in 1997 after allegedly admitting in
court that he was involved in a Tk 12 lakh contract to kill Salman Shah.
According to Shabnur, Rizvi
gave a statement before a court on July 24, 1997, after being arrested in
connection with an alleged attempt to abduct Salman Shah’s younger brother,
Shahran Chowdhury, alias Biltu. She said Rizvi had then claimed that he was
involved with several others in planning and carrying out Salman’s killing on
September 6, 1996.
Shabnur said Rizvi later
admitted his alleged involvement in a video message while living in the UK.
However, following the publication of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI)
report in 2019, she said he gave a different account in an interview with Somoy
TV, claiming that he was not involved and that Salman had died by suicide.
She also criticised Rizvi for
recently repeating the suicide claim in interviews with RJ Nirob and Somoy TV,
while allegedly blaming Salman’s mother, Neela Chowdhury, for his death.
Shabnur questioned Rizvi’s
credibility, saying his accounts about her were also contradictory.
She said Rizvi claimed in one
recent interview that he had secretly loved her and wanted to marry her, while
in another he allegedly claimed that she was his ex-girlfriend and that they
had married in 2016 before divorcing in 2018.
Rejecting the claim, Shabnur
said she had never seen or known Rizvi and had been married long before the
period he referred to.
She also denied allegations
that she had blackmailed Salman Shah or created conflicts within his family.
“Salman Shah was a very dear
co-actor and like an elder brother to me. I have absolutely no involvement in
his death,” she said.
Shabnur further alleged that
Rizvi’s recent statements could have been motivated by other interests,
including attempts to divert attention from the actual perpetrators as the case
takes a new turn.
She called for a neutral and comprehensive investigation into Salman Shah’s death and demanded exemplary punishment for anyone found responsible.
