Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader Dr Shafiqur Rahman has called on the government to take urgent steps to address the ongoing CNG shortage across the country.

He made the call in a post on his verified Facebook account on Friday morning.

“An unbearable crisis is prevailing at CNG filling stations across the country. I want to see a clear statement and initiative from the government on this issue,” he wrote.

Shafiqur Rahman said immediate measures must be taken to resolve the crisis. He also warned against attempts to address the situation through misleading explanations or falsehoods.

Referring to previous instances, the Jamaat chief said fuel prices had been increased after similar crises emerged in the past. “Such a move will not be acceptable at all,” he said.

He also called for a clear explanation from the government and effective measures to ensure a stable supply of CNG at filling stations.
