The Egyptian forward opened
the scoring early after cleverly dispossessing Basaksehir goalkeeper Muhamed
Sengezer before calmly finding the net.
Basaksehir restored parity
before half-time when Eldor Shomurodov converted a penalty, sending the two
sides into the break level at 1-1.
Salah struck again after the
interval, finishing from around 10 yards following an excellent pass from
Ernest Muci to put Trabzonspor back in front.
The 34-year-old was shown a
yellow card late in the match for an alleged dive. He appeared to complete his
hat-trick in stoppage time with a long-range effort from nearly 45 yards into
an empty net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Salah joined Trabzonspor this summer on a free transfer, reportedly signing a two-year contract worth £280,000 per week. Although the match was his third appearance for the club, it was his first opportunity to start and he made it count with a match-winning display.
