Bangladesh continues to grapple with a high level of violent crime, with 2,076 murder cases filed across the country in the first seven months of this year, according to Police Headquarters data.The figures show that more than 10 murder cases were filed on average every day between May and July, with 934 cases recorded during the three-month period.Political violence and mob attacks have also added to concerns over public safety. According to Ain o Salish Kendra, at least 77 people were killed in political violence and 134 in mob violence during the first seven months of the year.Police say they are continuing operations to arrest those involved in the crimes. However, crime analysts point to political conflicts, disputes over power, family feuds, drugs and the spread of illegal firearms as major factors behind the violence. Experts say improving law enforcement capacity, curbing illegal arms and addressing political and local conflicts will be crucial to bringing the situation under control.
