On Monday, October 12, Imran Hasho, an executive
committee member of the Actors’ Association, and Suchana Sikder, its law and
welfare secretary, visited the veteran actress at the hospital to inquire about
her health.
Speaking about her condition, Imran said Kalpana
was initially in a critical state and had been unable to speak for four to five
consecutive days. However, she has since recovered considerably and is now out
of danger.
According to Imran, the actress is expected to
return home within this week, subject to her doctors’ advice. He also sought
prayers from her fans and well-wishers across the country for her full
recovery.
Recalling their hospital visit, Imran said Kalpana was delighted to see them. Artists are not just colleagues; they are part of one another’s families. Standing beside each other in times of happiness, sorrow and hardship is both our responsibility and a bond of affection, he said.
He added that the Actors’ Association had always stood by artists and would continue to support them in the future. Kalpana made her debut on the silver screen in the mid-1980s. Over the years, she earned a special place in the hearts of audiences through her performances in supporting roles, particularly as a mother in Bangladeshi films.
Throughout her long career, she has portrayed maternal characters in numerous films, becoming a familiar and beloved face to generations of moviegoers. The veteran actress is no longer as active in acting as she once was. When her health permits, she occasionally appears in television dramas. Her most recent big-screen appearance was in the film Toshnos.
