Former supernumerary Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police and former Superintendent of Police Md Apel Mahmud has been suspended from government service over an allegation of misconduct.The Home Ministry’s Public Security Division announced the decision in a notification issued today by its Discipline-1 branch.According to the notification, a departmental case has been initiated against Apel Mahmud, the former Superintendent of Police of the Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Region, under Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, on charges of “misconduct”.During his suspension, Apel Mahmud will remain attached to the office of the Deputy Inspector General of the Rajshahi Range. He will also be entitled to a subsistence allowance in accordance with the applicable rules, the notification said.
