National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Sarjis Alam has accused the BNP-led government of failing to deliver on key priorities six months into its tenure, particularly in energy and law and order.Speaking to reporters on Friday after an NCP coordination meeting in Laxmipur, Sarjis said rising prices had become increasingly difficult for people to cope with, while many middle-class families were struggling with debt.He also criticised shortages of gas and electricity and job cuts in factories, saying the government was gradually heading towards failure but was unwilling to acknowledge it.Sarjis further accused the government of trying to turn parliament into a ruling-party-dominated institution. He urged the government to allow opposition lawmakers to speak and said the NCP would cooperate if the government worked in the public interest. However, he warned that the NCP would stand with the people and launch political resistance if the government acted against their expectations.
