Dhaka, August 3: Veteran actor Elias Kanchan has returned to Bangladesh after receiving treatment for a brain tumour in London for more than a year.Kanchan arrived in the country after leaving London’s Heathrow Airport on Monday morning with his son-in-law Ariful Islam Collins. A photo of the actor at the airport, showing his changed appearance after prolonged treatment, has drawn attention from fans and well-wishers.The actor went to London for treatment in April last year. He underwent brain surgery in August, but doctors could not remove a significant part of the tumour due to medical complications. Since then, he has undergone nearly 60 sessions of chemotherapy.Liton Ershad, vice-president of Nirapad Sarak Chai, said Kanchan has not fully recovered despite receiving advanced medical treatment in London. He said the family decided to bring him to Bangladesh for a few days after the actor expressed his wish to return home.Kanchan is scheduled to undergo important medical tests in London on August 15 and is expected to return there before August 14.Elias Kanchan, known for his roles in numerous Bangladeshi films, has also been active in road safety campaigns through Nirapad Sarak Chai.Fans and well-wishers across the country are hoping for his speedy recovery.
