Actress Manisha Koirala, however, has urged international visitors to continue travelling to the country.Although Koirala rose to stardom in Bollywood, she is primarily a Nepali actress. She believes tourism will play an important role in helping Nepal recover from the crisis.Speaking at the “In Solidarity with Nepal” event organised by Sadhguru in Kathmandu on August 30, Koirala appealed to the international community to continue supporting Nepal.You have shown Nepal so much love and support time and again, and I hope that continues. As a country, we need people to come to our country. We do not want to be seen only as a country where there is always a disaster or crisis. We want you to travel, she said.Referring to the recent disaster, she said, Yes, there has been a disaster on the Tibet-Nepal border. But tourism is our lifeline. That needs to be remembered. We need tourism in the rest of the country.Koirala said Nepal should not be remembered only for disasters but also for its mountains, natural beauty, culture, heritage and hospitality.Tourism is a major contributor to Nepal’s economy, and Koirala believes continued tourist arrivals are important for the country’s recovery. Born in Kathmandu, Manisha Koirala made her acting debut in the Nepali film Pheri Bhetoula in 1989. She entered Bollywood with Saudagar in 1991 and went on to achieve major success in Hindi cinema. She has also appeared in Tamil films.
