Mustafizur retained by Dubai Capitals, Shakib and Taskin released from ILT20

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been retained by Dubai Capitals ahead of the fifth edition of the International League T20 (ILT20), while Shakib Al Hasan and Taskin Ahmed have been released by their respective franchises. The fifth edition of the ILT20 is scheduled to begin on November 22. Ahead of the tournament, the participating franchises have finalised their lists of retained and newly contracted players.Mustafizur’s retention comes as recognition of his impressive performance for Dubai Capitals in the previous edition. The left-arm pacer played an effective role in the team’s campaign and will once again have an opportunity to contribute to their bowling attack.Shakib’s release by MI Emirates, however, comes as little surprise. The experienced all-rounder played eight matches in the previous edition but struggled to find his best rhythm with both bat and ball.He scored 115 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 122.34 and managed only three wickets with the ball.Taskin’s numbers were better than Shakib’s, but Sharjah Warriors also decided not to retain the Bangladesh pacer.Making his ILT20 debut last season, Taskin claimed nine wickets in six matches at an average of 15.44. Despite the promising figures, he did not make the Warriors’ list of retained players for the upcoming season.Meanwhile, Mustafizur’s retention reflects the value he brought to Dubai Capitals last season. The Bangladesh left-arm pacer is set to continue as an important part of the franchise’s bowling attack in the upcoming campaign.
