The International Crimes Tribunal’s Chief Prosecutor, Md Aminul Islam, has alleged that a significant amount of evidence and information from the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) was destroyed after August 5.He made the remarks on Saturday around 11:15am after inspecting the JIC facility at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).The chief prosecutor also said BNP leader and current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had been detained and tortured at a DGFI “Aynaghar” during the One-Eleven period.Aminul Islam alleged that the previous government, led by Sheikh Hasina, had established an inhumane system of detention and torture. He said the “Aynaghar” facilities were created with ulterior motives and that many people holding dissenting views were detained there for months or even years.The inspection was conducted as part of the investigation into alleged enforced disappearances and torture during the Awami League government. The International Crimes Tribunal-1 visited the JIC facility in connection with a case involving allegations of crimes against humanity.
