Biden’s cancer has spread further, son Hunter says

Former US President Joe Biden’s cancer has spread further, including to his bones and other parts of his body, his son Hunter Biden has said.Hunter made the disclosure in an interview with the BBC’s Newsnight, broadcast Friday night, according to AFP.“The cancer has spread. It’s in his bones and it’s in other parts of his body,” Hunter said, describing his father’s condition as painful and physically debilitating.Despite his illness, Hunter said Biden remains active and continues to work.“He’s still going out, he’s still doing his work. He still deeply loves this country and his belief in the country remains intact,” he said.Hunter became emotional while discussing his father’s health, saying, “It’s really difficult, and it’s really hard to see your dad in this condition.”Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May 2025, four months after leaving office. The cancer had already spread to his bones. He subsequently underwent treatment including radiation and hormone therapy.Last month, while announcing his forthcoming memoir, Biden said his treatment was “going very well.” Hunter’s latest comments, however, indicate that the former president’s condition has since worsened.Biden, the oldest person to serve as US president, faced questions about his health for years. Despite those concerns, he sought a second term in the 2024 presidential election. After a widely criticised debate performance against Donald Trump in June 2024 and mounting pressure from Democrats, Biden withdrew from the race.Trump subsequently defeated Biden’s replacement candidate, then-Vice President Kamala Harris, to win the presidency.
