Bangladesh has taken steps to bring home the bodies of two nationals killed in an attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at state expense. Four other Bangladeshis injured in the incident are receiving treatment in intensive care units (ICUs), State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam said on Sunday.Speaking at a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (October 11), the state minister said the Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh had been instructed to maintain regular contact with the injured and monitor their condition.She also urged Bangladeshis living in Saudi Arabia to remain alert and prioritise their safety.Shama Obaed Islam said the government was monitoring the security situation at King Khalid International Airport and other airports across Saudi Arabia. Decisions regarding flight operations would be taken after assessing the evolving situation, she added.Meanwhile, Bangladesh has strongly condemned the attack at the Riyadh airport that killed two of its citizens. The government also called for an immediate end to the conflict and urged all parties to ensure the protection of civilians.In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Bangladesh mission in Riyadh was maintaining contact with Saudi authorities to gather detailed information about the deceased and injured Bangladeshis and ensure necessary assistance for those affected.The government is working to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies and provide support to the injured, according to the information shared by the state minister and the ministry.
