The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh has urged Bangladeshi expatriates living in Saudi Arabia to comply with local laws and exercise caution when using social media. The embassy has also advised expatriates to avoid unnecessary movement around diplomatic quarters and embassy premises.The warning was issued in a special notice published by the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh on Thursday, October 1, 2026.In the notice, the embassy said Bangladeshi nationals must refrain from any activities that violate Saudi laws or undermine social peace and public order. It urged expatriates to strictly follow the relevant guidelines to avoid legal complications.The embassy also cautioned against taking photographs or recording videos of restricted areas, sensitive installations, incidents or subjects, as well as capturing images or footage without a legitimate reason where prohibited.Regarding social media, the notice advised expatriates not to publish, circulate, store or share content on platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and X (formerly Twitter) that violates local laws or goes against public safety and public order. The embassy also urged them to refrain from liking, commenting on or sharing such content.The embassy further advised Bangladeshis to avoid wandering aimlessly inside, outside or around embassy premises before or after receiving consular services. Taking photographs or recording videos in these areas without permission is also prohibited, according to the notice.Emphasising the importance of compliance, the embassy warned that violations of the instructions could constitute offences punishable under Saudi law.The embassy called on all Bangladeshi expatriates to act responsibly, remain vigilant and respect local laws. It said such conduct would help ensure a safe and orderly life abroad while preserving Bangladesh's reputation in Saudi Arabia.
