The National Moon Sighting Committee will meet on Saturday evening to determine the date for the beginning of Rabi al-Thani, the fourth month of the Islamic calendar, for Hijri year 1448. The meeting will be held at 6:45pm after Maghrib prayers at the meeting room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram. Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaykobad will chair the meeting.The Islamic Foundation announced the meeting in a press release issued by its public relations division on Friday. According to the release, the committee will review reports of the sighting of the Rabi al-Thani crescent and make a decision on the beginning of the month. If the crescent is sighted in Bangladesh on Saturday, September 12, Rabi al-Awwal will complete 29 days and Rabi al-Thani will begin on Sunday, September 13. If the moon is not sighted on Saturday, Rabi al-Awwal will complete 30 days on Sunday, and Rabi al-Thani will begin on Monday, September 14. The committee's decision will determine the official start date of Rabi al-Thani in Bangladesh.
