Despite financial hardship, Sumaiya Akter of Kendua upazila in Netrokona has secured a GPA-5 in the 2026 SSC examinations through hard work and determination.Sumaiya, from Chapuri village under Roailbari Union, is the daughter of Saiful Islam Fakir, who works at a poultry farm. Her mother also works in different jobs to help support the family.With limited income, meeting household expenses and covering Sumaiya’s education costs was difficult. However, her parents continued to support her studies despite the financial constraints.Sumaiya appeared for the SSC examination from Shahid Smriti Vidyapith, an institution founded from the dream of renowned writer Dr Humayun Ahmed. The school achieved a 100 percent pass rate this year, with Sumaiya’s GPA-5 adding to its success.Recognising her academic ability and dedication, the school authorities also helped cover part of her educational expenses.Sumaiya said she wants to pursue higher education and become a successful person. Her teachers and local residents have assured her of support in achieving her goal.Her achievement highlights how determination, hard work and perseverance can help students overcome financial challenges and pursue their educational dreams.
