DMP tightens security across Dhaka ahead of July Uprising Day

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has adopted extensive security measures across the capital to maintain law and order and ensure public safety ahead of July Uprising Day on August 5.According to the DMP, the security arrangements are aimed at preventing any acts of sabotage, untoward incidents or threats to public safety during the observance of the day.As part of the plan, police have significantly increased picket duty and checkposts across the city, with intensified screening at all major entry points to Dhaka. Detectives from the Detective Branch (DB) and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit will also remain deployed in plain clothes at key venues.Special security sweeps will be conducted at locations expected to attract large crowds, with the participation of the SWAT unit, Bomb Disposal Unit and Dog Squad.The DMP said all event venues and the July Memorial sites have been brought under enhanced security, including surveillance through CCTV cameras and drones. Intelligence personnel from the Counter Terrorism and Intelligence Division are also carrying out plain-clothes monitoring.To respond to any emergency, an adequate number of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been kept on standby.In addition to regular police deployments, extra DMP personnel will work alongside members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to ensure security across the capital.Senior police officials will remain in the field throughout the day to supervise security operations and monitor the overall law and order situation.
