Rain fell in different parts of the capital on Friday morning, bringing some relief after several days of heat. Intermittent showers were reported in several areas, while waterlogging on some roads slowed traffic.People heading out in the morning were seen carrying umbrellas. Although the rain lowered temperatures somewhat, waterlogging and traffic congestion could affect movement in parts of the capital.The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, may occur in many places in Sylhet division, some places in Barishal and Chattogram divisions, and one or two places in Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions.Moderately heavy rainfall may occur at some places in Sylhet division.Elsewhere, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. Daytime temperatures across the country may fall slightly, while nighttime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.Weather forecast for the next five daysAccording to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur in different parts of the country over the next five days.Rain is likely in many places in Sylhet, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and in some places in Dhaka, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions. Some areas of Sylhet may experience moderately heavy rainfall.Meanwhile, gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45–60 kilometres per hour may sweep across the Cumilla and Sylhet regions. River ports in these areas have been advised to display warning signal No. 1.The Meteorological Department said no major change in weather conditions is expected over the next five days. Daytime temperatures may fall slightly due to rainfall, while nighttime temperatures are likely to remain almost unchanged. In the last 24 hours, the country's highest temperature of 36°C was recorded in Khulna. Dhaka recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4°C. Sylhet received the highest rainfall during the period, measuring 20 millimetres.
