Meta has launched Muse Code, a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered coding tool aimed at helping developers build software, write code and identify and fix errors.

The tool is powered by Meta’s latest AI model, Muse Spark 1.2.

Meta Platforms said on Wednesday (August 5) that Muse Code has been specifically trained to handle long and complex coding projects. It can use multiple AI assistants, or sub-agents, simultaneously to complete difficult and time-consuming tasks more efficiently.

According to Meta, Muse Spark 1.2 and Muse Code were trained together, allowing the two technologies to work in tandem and provide developers with more effective assistance across a range of coding tasks.

Work can resume after interruptions

Muse Code is currently available in beta and will save users’ work history. This means developers can resume from where they left off even if the software is unexpectedly closed.

Developers will be able to use Muse Code under a pay-as-you-go pricing model.

Under the standard plan, users will be charged $1.25 per one million input tokens and $4.25 per one million output tokens.

Meta enters competition with Anthropic, OpenAI

With Muse Code, Meta is entering the increasingly competitive AI coding-tool market, taking on technologies such as Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s Codex.

Major technology companies are increasingly introducing new AI tools and services as they seek to expand revenue from AI assistant-based products.

About a month earlier, Meta released Muse Spark 1.1 for developers to test. The model was used to create and evaluate complex coding challenges.

Meta said the experience gained from that testing helped improve the capabilities of the new Muse Spark 1.2 model.
