The Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance has nominated LDP Chairman Col (retd) Oli Ahmed for the upcoming presidential election.The decision was taken at a meeting of the alliance at the residence of Opposition Leader and Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman around 11:30am on Sunday.NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam announced the nomination at a press briefing after the meeting.The meeting, chaired by Shafiqur Rahman, was attended by Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, alliance coordinator Dr Hamidur Rahman Azad, Oli Ahmed, JAGPA leader Rashid Pradhan, Khelafat Majlis leader Mamunul Haque, and NCP leaders Nahid Islam and Nasiruddin Patwari. The nomination came a day after Jamaat announced its decision to contest the country's 23rd presidential election at a meeting of its Central Executive Council at the party's Moghbazar office.
