More than 200 Houthi fighters have reportedly been killed in Yemen over the past 48 hours as clashes and drone strikes intensified, with most of the deaths reported in the southwestern province of Taiz.Sources cited by Al Arabiya said most of the casualties were members of the Houthi Al-Samad Brigades.The reported losses have not stopped the group from preparing for further attacks. Yemen Future, citing several sources, said the Houthis have deployed additional fighters to the Al-Barh front, west of Taiz city.The reinforcements reportedly include special forces personnel, commandos and other members with military training.The group also appears to be expanding its recruitment efforts. Sources in Sanaa said the Houthis have begun releasing hundreds of prisoners from detention centres in areas under their control, with some being offered release in exchange for joining the fighting.Around 850 prisoners and detainees have reportedly been released from facilities in Saada, Hajjah and Sanaa provinces. Among them were people facing criminal and drug-related charges.Authorities are also reportedly preparing to release another 1,400 prisoners in Dhamar province.Sources said those released were required to sign pledges to join the fighting. In return, they were reportedly promised withdrawal or settlement of their legal cases.Some detainees were allegedly offered formal positions in Houthi forces and financial assistance. Prisoners held over unpaid debts were also reportedly offered debt settlement in exchange for joining the group.The developments come as the Houthis attempt to replenish their ranks following heavy losses in recent fighting.Source: Al Arabiya
