Man Killed in Alleged Attack by Younger Brother over Land Dispute in Kushtia

A man was allegedly killed by his younger brother following a dispute over family land in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia on Saturday evening, police said.

The victim, Nur Islam, was a resident of Thakurpara village under Bahalbaria Union. Police have detained his younger brother, Helal, 44, in connection with the incident.

According to police and local sources, the two brothers became involved in an argument over family property at around 7:00pm. During the altercation, Helal allegedly attacked Nur Islam with a sharp hatchet, leaving him seriously injured.

Local residents rushed the victim to Kushtia General Hospital, where he died at around 9:00pm while receiving treatment.

Mirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shahidul Islam said the body had been sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy. He added that legal proceedings are underway.
