Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for a series of ballistic missile strikes on Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s Asir province.
Al
Jazeera reported the attacks on Tuesday, citing the Houthi military spokesman
Yahya Saree.
In
a statement posted on X, Saree said the missiles struck the airport “directly
and precisely”, disrupting flight operations.
He
also warned global airlines against continuing to operate flights in Saudi
airspace, saying the area had become a “battlefield” for their military
operations.
Saudi
authorities have yet to comment on the latest attacks.
The Houthis also launched attacks on airports in Jazan and Najran on Monday night, reportedly causing casualties, injuries and damage.
