A total of 180 flights have been cancelled at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka due to restrictions on flight operations at Saudi Arabia's Riyadh and Dammam airports, affecting 23,085 passengers.

According to information received on Saturday, several flight services have remained suspended or disrupted following restrictions at the two Saudi airports.

Data provided by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) shows that the cancelled flights include 103 direct flights and 77 transit flights.

Among the cancelled direct flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines accounted for the highest number, with 51 flights. US-Bangla Airlines cancelled 10 flights, while Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) and Riyadh Air cancelled 21 flights each.

The disruption also affected several international airlines operating transit services through the affected routes.

IndiGo cancelled 30 transit flights, followed by Emirates with 14, Qatar Airways with nine, Flydubai and Air India with eight each, and SalamAir with seven. EgyptAir cancelled one transit flight.

The cancellations have disrupted travel plans for thousands of passengers, particularly those travelling between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, as well as passengers connecting through international transit routes.
