Four more children have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, while 1,137 children were reported to have either confirmed measles or measles-like symptoms during the same period.According to the latest measles situation report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday afternoon, the deaths and new cases were recorded between 8:00am Saturday and 8:00am Sunday.The DGHS said none of the four deaths recorded during the reporting period were laboratory-confirmed measles cases. All four children died with symptoms consistent with the disease.Since March 15, a total of 748 children have died with measles symptoms, while 96 deaths have been confirmed as caused by measles, bringing the combined death toll to 844.During the past 24 hours, health authorities confirmed 115 new measles infections, while another 1,022 children were reported with suspected measles symptoms. A total of 946 children were admitted to hospitals during the period, while 886 were discharged after treatment.DGHS data show that since March 15, Bangladesh has recorded 130,083 suspected measles cases, including 16,295 laboratory-confirmed infections. During the same period, 112,620 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 108,283 have been discharged.
