He confirmed his departure in a Facebook post on
Wednesday at 8:00pm.
In his post, Ammar expressed gratitude to the
students who elected him and entrusted him with the responsibility. He said he
had tried to stand by them with his time, effort and abilities, while
acknowledging that he had made mistakes during his tenure.
"Dear RU students, you gave an insignificant
person like me the honour of being elected through your votes. I tried to stand
beside you with my ability, time and effort. I made many mistakes, and I
sincerely apologise to you for those," he wrote.
Ammar said his election had given him a new lease on life and expressed his gratitude to the students for the opportunity. According to his post, November 4 was the deadline set in an administrative letter for handing over the RAKSU keys and furniture.
He described leaving the office as being relieved
of a major responsibility and said he spent his final moments there with RAKSU
officials and employees who had worked alongside him for a year.
Alhamdulillah, I am now free from a major responsibility," he wrote, wishing the RAKSU staff and employees well. Ammar also said his involvement in student activism would continue through the Rajshahi University Reform Movement platform.
He announced that the platform would carry forward the struggle for the next RAKSU election as well as the movement's previous nine-point demands. He further assured students that he would remain available to support them in emergencies, adding that he would try to address students' financial concerns through the Novoculture platform.
Despite leaving his official position, Ammar indicated that he intended to remain engaged in student welfare and university reform initiatives.
