Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddique has said that ordinary leaders and activists of the Awami League are facing the biggest consequences amid discussions over Sheikh Hasina’s possible return to Bangladesh.He said such announcements without proper planning were creating legal and political complications for the party’s grassroots supporters.Speaking to journalists after paying respects at the grave of district Krishak Sramik Janata League President Aminul Islam Tarek in Kishoreganj on Thursday, Kader Siddique said rumours about Sheikh Hasina’s return in December had already created difficulties for many Awami League supporters.“Awami League leaders and activists are suffering the most because of the speculation over Sheikh Hasina’s return. If such a decision was made through proper planning, supporters could have been encouraged. But now many are facing arrests and legal complications,” he said.Commenting on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, Kader Siddique said, “Even if he is tried for the damage he has caused to the country, it would not be enough.” However, he praised BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s gesture of showing respect to Yunus at a July Day event, describing it as part of political culture.Assessing the current government’s performance, Kader Siddique said that despite facing national and international challenges, the present administration was managing the country better compared to the period under Professor Yunus.Speaking about Jamaat-e-Islami, he described the party as “unfortunate” and alleged that it had opposed independence during the Liberation War and supported the British during the anti-British movement, which he said contributed to its decline.
