The meeting was held at 12:45pm at the opposition leader’s office. Nepal Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Pratik Karki was also present. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Shafiquur Rahman expressed condolences over the recent devastating natural disasters, landslides and mudslides in Nepal. He also sought an update from the ambassador on the latest situation in the country.
Bhandari thanked the
opposition leader for expressing solidarity with the people of Nepal. He also
thanked Shafiquur Rahman for his prompt response and condolence message
following the disasters.
The ambassador briefed the Jamaat chief on ongoing rescue operations, the suffering of affected people and the destruction and losses caused by the landslides. Referring to the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal, Dr Shafiquur Rahman assured the ambassador that Jamaat-e-Islami would stand by Nepal and extend all possible support.
