Fifty students have begun memorising the Holy Quran at the Kajla branch of Markazut Tahfiz International Madrasa in the capital’s Jatrabari area.The event was organised at the madrasa, located near the Kajla foot overbridge, west of 306 Donia College. Sheikh Nesar Ahmad An Nasiri runs the institution.At the programme, the students formally began their Quran memorisation lessons, known as sabak. Student Nur Mohammad, who has completed memorising the Quran, was also awarded a turban and certificate.A number of renowned Islamic scholars and senior religious figures attended the event. Teachers, students and guardians also took part in the programme.Nur Mohammad’s father, Mawlana Md Al Amin, expressed gratitude following his son’s completion of the Quran memorisation. Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, Nur Mohammad has completed memorising the Quran. He has received a turban and certificate from the madrasa, he said.Nur Mohammad said the support of his teachers and regular study helped him complete the memorisation. I had the opportunity to complete the Quran memorisation with the sincere support of my teachers and regular study. May Allah grant us the ability to lead our lives according to the teachings of the Quran, he said.Sheikh Nesar Ahmad An Nasiri, director of the madrasa, said the students’ hard work, along with support from teachers and guardians, played an important role in their achievement.Our expectation is that, as memorizers of the Quran, the students will play an ethical and humanitarian role in society in the future, he said.The scholars and religious figures present at the event prayed for the students and stressed the importance of applying the teachings of the Quran in personal and social life. The madrasa authorities said they also focus on developing students’ Islamic values, manners and moral character alongside Quran memorisation.
