Nahid is expected
to regain full fitness by the second week of next month, but the Bangladesh
Cricket Board (BCB) does not want to take any risks with the pacer. Fast bowler
Taskin Ahmed, who is also returning from injury, has been rested as well.
Chief selector
Habibul Bashar Suman said the selectors want both Nahid and Taskin fully fit
for the upcoming West Indies series.
The squad also sees
the return of Towhid Hridoy and Zakir Ali Anik. Hridoy earned his recall after
scoring a record-breaking triple century for Bangladesh A in South Africa. He
made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in June but was not included in the
subsequent Australia tour.
Zakir has also
returned after performing well for the A team, replacing Amit Hasan in the
squad. Amit made his Test debut against Zimbabwe and was part of the Australia
tour.
Off-spinner Nayeem
Hasan and young pacers Mushfiq Hasan and Iqbal Hossain Emon have been named as
travelling reserves.
Bangladesh will
play the one-off Test against Afghanistan on October 9 in the UAE. The venue
has not yet been officially announced.
