Twenty popular songs by legendary Bangladeshi band musician Ayub Bachchu are set to be released in new musical arrangements to mark his birth anniversary. Titled ‘Uttoradhikar’ (Legacy), the special album will be released on double CD as well as digital platforms.The album features 20 of Bachchu’s well-known songs, including ‘Rupali Guitar,’ ‘Neel Bedona,’ ‘Madhobi,’ ‘Shei Tumi’ and ‘Kosto Pete Bhalobashi.’ Eight bands and 12 solo artists have recorded the songs in new arrangements.Among the featured tracks, Dolchhut has performed ‘Rupali Guitar,’ Arbovirus ‘Neel Bedona,’ Sonar Bangla Circus ‘Gotokal Rate,’ Shubhojatra ‘Cholo Bodle Jai,’ Calypso ‘Chand Mama,’ RockSalt ‘Ochena Jibon’ and Dopamine ‘Madhobi.’ A.K. Rahul has performed ‘Mon Chaile Mon.’Among the solo performers, Babna Karim and Russell Ali have recorded ‘Hashte Dekho,’ Romel Ali ‘Ekhon Onek Raat,’ Chandan Zaman Ali-Menon ‘Meye,’ Kaniz Suborna and Sazzad ‘Kosto Pete Bhalobashi,’ Palash ‘Apon Keho Nai’ and Joy Shahriar ‘Kosto Kake Bole.’The other tracks include ‘Ghumonto Shohore’ by Adit, ‘Rater Tara’ by Bakhtiar Hossain, ‘Ferari Ei Mon’ by Atika Yamin, ‘Hawker’ by Autumnal Moon, ‘Nirobe’ by Kanak Acharya and ‘Bangladesh’ by Tawfiq-AB-Menon.Iqbal Asif Jewel has mastered all the songs on the album.Project coordinator Chishti Iqbal said Ayub Bachchu’s wife, Ferdous Akter Chandana, approached them with the idea of doing something special to mark the singer’s birth anniversary. The proposal to re-record some of his most popular songs with new arrangements was then discussed, eventually leading to the finalisation of the 20-track album ‘Uttoradhikar.’
