American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organised a research and innovation event aimed at connecting academic research with real-world applications.

Titled “From Research to Reality: How We Built the EV/PHEV Feasibility Project,” the event highlighted research and innovation in information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

Shah Tajul Islam Rumel, Managing Director of 3Leaf Technologies Limited, and the company’s Chairman Irtiza Ahmed Raifa attended the event as chief guests. AIUB’s vice-chancellor, professors, teachers, researchers, special guests and students also took part in the programme. The event featured discussions on the activities of AIUB’s research team, while recognition plaques were presented to those involved.

The event placed particular emphasis on students’ research into EVs and PHEVs as potential alternatives to the conventional three-wheeled rickshaw in Bangladesh.

Participants said such research could contribute to developing an environment-friendly transport system while also helping strengthen energy security, reduce dependence on imported fuel, promote smart and safe mobility, and support sustainable economic development.

Shah Tajul Islam Rumel, Chairman of 3Leaf Technologies Limited, said research and feasibility studies are crucial before implementing any major project.

“Proper research can turn a promising idea into a practical, effective and sustainable project,” he said.

The company also expressed interest in working with AIUB faculty members, researchers and students on industry-focused research, innovation, AI, technology and sustainable mobility in the future.

Participants said stronger collaboration between universities and industries could help transform young researchers’ innovative ideas into practical solutions.

They stressed that research should not remain confined to academic papers, but should move towards innovation and implementation to create a tangible impact on people’s lives.

The event also highlighted the importance of connecting the research, ideas and creativity of young people with real-world needs.

The participants expressed hope that such initiatives would help establish a pathway from research to innovation, innovation to implementation, and implementation to practical solutions for society.
