He made the remarks
on Wednesday morning after paying tribute to BNP founder and former president
Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia at their graves in the
capital’s Zia Udyan, marking the 46th founding anniversary of the Jubo Dal.
Rizvi said Bangladesh
has maintained from the beginning that it is an independent and sovereign country
and wants to establish relations with all nations on an equal footing.
Our prime minister
will maintain relations with all countries based on the protection of
sovereignty. He will visit different countries, and we will also invite leaders
of all countries to Bangladesh, he said.
Rizvi further said
friendship cannot be established if an invitation from any country comes with
conditions.
If there are conditions attached to an invitation from any country, friendship cannot be possible on those terms. Friendship requires mutual respect for each other’s independence and sovereignty, he said.
