He said those
involved in corruption would face action through the proper legal process and
the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Moin Khan made the
remarks while exchanging greetings with officials and heads of various agencies
under the ministry and members of the media at the Secretariat around 11:30am.
He said the BNP is
often described as a cantonment party, while the Awami League had destroyed
democracy and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman restored it.
The minister also
said BNP does not believe in politics of revenge and wants to establish the
rule of law in the country.
Asked when local
government elections would begin, Moin Khan said elections must be held through
a constitutional process and he could not announce a specific date at his
discretion.
If I announce
today that the election will be held on a particular day, it will have no
meaning, he said.
The BNP government will announce the schedule for local government elections at the appropriate time by following the constitutional process, he added.
